Elphin GAA Update May 13th

Adult Football

Division 4 League: St Ronans 2-10 Elphin 0-12.
Our junior team lost by 4 points after an evenly contested league game on sunday last in ballyfarnan, a goal in each half was ultimately the difference in the two teams. Ronans went 0-4 to no score up after 5 minutes before Elphin got a few scores to bring us back into it. Ronans lead by 1-5 to 0-6 at half time. The second half started and try as we might Elphin could not get back level. A second goal effectively killed the game however we never gave up and in the end lost out by 4 points.

Elphin/Ballinameen Round-up

The Elphin Ballinameen U14 boys had a busy week: on Monday they played Kilglass/St. Barry’s and lost out on a scoreline of 5-9 to 4-5. On Thursday they played St. Ciarans and the game finished on a scoreline of 6-7 to 5-8 to St. Ciarans and on Sunday they play Western Gaels and unfortunately lost on a scoreline of 5-4 to 8-7 to Western Gaels. There will be no game for them this week.

Our U12’s played Western Gaels and were defeated on a scoreline of 5-4 to 8-7 to Western Gaels.

Elphin LGFA

Our U14’s were narrowly defeated by Strokestown in their Division 3 Championship match on Wednesday in the Orchard Park. A great first half saw Elphin-Kilmore leading 4-01 to 2-01 at half-time. However the second half showed a stronger Strokestown side bringing the scoreline back and winning the game 4-03 to 4-01.
Their next game Wednesday 16th away to St. Dominics at 7pm.

A group of our girls hit off for Abbotstown on Saturday to take part in the Gaelic4Teens Activity Day at the National Games Development Centre. Elphin are one of 16 clubs selected to participate in this year’s Gaelic4Teens programme which is a great opportunity for the club. A big thank you to Martin & Irene Higgins and Michelle Holmes who accompanied the girls on the day. A great day our had by all.

Elphin G.A.A. Couch to 5k fun finale

Our 5km Walk-Run takes place on Saturday 26th May at 12pm meeting at the Orchard Park dressing room. Registration will take place at club house in Orchard Park Elphin at 11am. Please come in early as will be starting at 12pm sharp.
All are welcome, you can walk run or come along the cheer everyone on. Refreshments provided afterwards in An Bothar Rua. All welcome and we look forward to family fun afternoon!

Elphin GAA Lotto:

There was no winner of our Club Lotto Jackpot, the Numbers Drawn were 6, 12, 16 & 28. The Lucky Dip winners were John & Liam Martin c/o Tower Inn; Emma Purcell, Carrownamorheeney; Angela Rock, Windmill Rd; Aine McGrath, Dublin.
This week’s jackpot will be €6,300 and the Draw will be held in Timmys. Entry is just €2, Envelopes are available in local shops or you can play here.
